SuGO™ competitions at Accident Maryland. LIVE STREAM

SuGO™ is the not-so-ancient art of building Sumo Wrestling Robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS.

There are lots of different Sumo'bot formats, but SuGO™ was developed by Phil Malone when the Garrett Engineering And Robotics Society (GEARS) was first founded back in 2006.

"SuGO™ Sunday" began a 13 year tradition of monthly build 'n battle events at the GEARS facility in Accident Maryland.

If you are anywhere near Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland then you MUST come and play SuGO™ with us. We play on the first Sunday of every month from 1:00pm to about 3:45pm. Don't bother bringing anything but your imagination (and maybe cash for snacks).

We start by forming teams (these can be friends, family or even strangers) and then we build like crazy for 2 hours.

The goal is to make the baddest Sumo Wrestling LEGO robot you can (and still be legal). Then we check-in the robots and have a knock-down double-elimination SuGO™ tournament.

When it's all done, we break down the robots and everyone goes home exhausted.

Cost: It's FREE !!! (You could purchase a yearly $25 GEARS membership if you'd like to help support us)
Location: 116 Industrial Park Drive, Accident MD 21520.
Time: Construction starts at 1:00 pm - Matches start at 3:00 pm.
For more information, call Phil at (301) 387-2331.

Roll your own SuGO™ competitions

If you want to run your own SuGO competions, or just want to build a cool SuGObot, then come on in!
The cool part is that while you're playing, you're also learning all about the Science of SuGO

Now that we're selling SuGO™ field kits and Sensor upgrade kits (see our Store) anyone (and I mean anyone) can run their own SuGO™ competition. Just get some friends together and start building. You can begin with our standard SuGO™ software and robot designs but when you are tired with these, you can try creating your own cool designs.

SuGO™ is great for clubs of all sizes. You can start with small competitions and then expand to county or state wide. Compete within your club, and then have clubs compete against each other at county or state events. SuGO™ can even help you earn a Scout Robotics patch. It's also a fun way to get kids ready for other robotics events like FIRST LEGO League.

To learn more about running your own SuGO™ events, check out the Competition and Robot rules and download our pre-formatted Game sheets.
